Boasting Starbucks as its target competitor, a former barista wanted a brand that would speak to the African-American demographic, while providing an ambiance reflective of minority influences in pop culture. Needless to say, an icon that would prove worthy of rivaling the mermaid embedded into our morning subconscious was the first step of instilling confidence moving forward.
